I decided to venture out with the new 10-20mm yesterday and try it our. I shot in RAW only on my EOS350D and was able to review all the shots on camera.

When I got home I plugged the camera into the PC via the Canon supplied cable(as my card reader is bust) and tried accessing the files. (have previously been able to see RAW files on the camera and open them in CS2)

All as I could see was a folder with no name which seemed to be empty in Explorer!

I then tried taking a jpg file which I could then see!

Could it be that it will be easier to transfer using a card reader? Although I can't understand why I all of a sudden cannot see the files.

Any help appreciated!

I think you will find that Explorer cannot see RAW files but can see Jpegs.

Usually if you install the Canon utilities you can then use DPP view your files and convert your RAW files to TIFF or Jpeg.

Or you can try downloading "Fast Picture Viewer" to view your RAW files.

From memory . and it from memory, you need to up date your system with Microsoft's RAW image viewer. I think it comes under their Pro Imaging tools . Go to the MS site and type in Raw Image Viewer/

Just checked and yes it's there. Versions for XP Vista and W7

Ahh, thanks guys. Did a full reinstall of the PC a few months back and have not tried RAW since then. Will dig out the old Canon CD and check I have the codec I need.

Many thanks again...

All sorted thanks to a combination of the above! Thanks again everyone! When I reinstalled I only installed the WIA driver not the rest of the software! Doh!
