Help!
1st question from a newbie.
I've just got my first DSLR (EOS400D) and decided to use the RAW format with a view to processing on my PC. I don't have Photoshop but have Elements 3.
I now find I can't load my pics into Elements (my Canon software tells me that I can upload to PS7 or CS2 but NOT to Elements)
Now, I can presumably shoot in JPEG with my camera set on its creative modes (that's shutter or aperture priority or manual etc) and upload them to Elements, but is that acceptable?
I guess what I'm asking is do I lose something by shooting in JPEG as opposed to RAW with respect to processing on my PC?

Or should I shut up and get Photoshop CS2?
:)

Have you downloaded the RAW converter from the adobe site yet? Don't know if it supports the 400D but I would have thought so. If not see if you can get a copy of RAWShooter Essentials and try that. It was free but I don't know if it's still available since adobe bought pixmantec. Don't blow your money on CS2 yet that's for sure.

Elements 3.0 works with RAW on my 300D , have a look on Adobe website for the latest RAW plugin to cover the 400D :)

The latest Adobe RAW plugin works a treat with Elements 4, it seems better to me than the earlier versions.

Get the plugin, copy it to program files\common files\adobe\plug-ins\cs2\file formats (overwrite the old one).
Reboot the PC, et voila!
(You might have to clear the cache if you use Bridge to preview files).

Elements - it breathes!

Thanks you lot, methinks I'm gonna like this site.
