Yes
Ordered a lastolite triple head kit last week from a well known online store. Website said they had 19 in stock.
Called today to see where it was and told 'Out of stock, could be a couple of weeks as lastolite make them to order!!!!'
Charged my card last week!
WTF is up with retailers in this country?
Bet they don't refund as quickly :(

Without a company name we cannot slice, dice and serve with some Aunt Bessie's roast tatties and a fine red.

I feel your pain, I bought a manfrotto boom stand at focus, was then told that I couldn't have the one I'd just paid for and that it would be delivered in a couple of days......... :(

When it didn't turn up I rang to be told that it'd be a week or so as manfrotto didnt have any

Hold back on the N&S for a while though please, mistakes do happen.

Possibly not best to Name and Shame. Some companies love a good libellous action, and I'm guessing the forum could do without the agro

Nothing libellous about stating facts so long as it remains purely factual.

Fully agree, but the amount of agro and mudslinging some companies will do, even when in the wrong, can still be time consuming and costly.

Money spent on legal fees only serves to reduce the kitty of available Jaffa cake funds

So when is it ok to name and shame? I guess potentially never if you are worried about agro....maybe it's a call based on how much time and money would be consumed from members being messed about? I don't know where the line is here though.

Legal fees....lawyers....big fat waste of money! lol In my experience if you understand your legal position and the jargon then sod using them unless absolutely necessary.

To be honest I can't offer any help in this thread now anyway. If I provide any factual data on the company it can now be taken in context with the negative opening post so I'm afriad I'm outta here! :)

I would have said it was a time sensitive thing. "Last week" possibly isn't long enough to give the company a chance, especially given the increased orders around focus.
The fact they have charged the op's card is out of order though, as payment is due on despach, so he's fully within his rights to request a refund.

What annoyed me most was that they are obviously advertising stock they not only know they don't have, but also know it's a long lead time to get it AND still charge right away!
Anyway, having threatened to cancel the order they miraculously found enough components to make up a kit which should be here today.
We shall see......

Well to be honest they are in breach of contract and misrepresentation, dont name and shame just give trading standards a call, and inform them you are doing the same be amazed at how well this works.

And that is very good advice

Consumer Direct is who you'd need to talk to, they'll tell you the legislation you need to quote. I had issues with one of the larger home electricals stores over a knackered washer dryer and I told them I'd call C.D., but it took a letter quoting from the Sales of Goods Act and threatening them with court action to actually get a result.
