I'm hoping someone here can shed some light on my RAM problem.

I have 16gb Corsair RAM in 4 x 4gb sticks.
Motherboard is an Asus P8H77-v
Running Windows 8 Pro 64bit

All sticks checked and working fine.

When I insert just one stick, I get 4gb.
When I insert 2 sticks in both channel 1 and 2, I get 8gb.
If I install 2 stick in either channel 1 or 2, with a third stick in either of the free slots, I end up with 7.95gb.
If all four sticks are used, I still only get 8gb.

These scenarios are in the bios and in Windows 8 but, if I check the spd in the bios, I can see the correct info for the number of sticks used (i.e. 4,8,12 and 16gb) and, similarly, CPU-Z shows the correct memory for the number of sticks used.

Anyone have any ideas?

Thanks

Thanks for that but, all my sticks came in a set, all identical in every way.

If it doesn't show in the BIOS, it won't show in the OS. Do you have the latest BIOS installed? (http://www.asus.com/Motherboards/P8H77V/#support)

Yep, latest BIOS.

As I said, I can see all sticks in dimm slots in Bios but, only shows as 8gb when going through post setup, can also see 16gb in CPU-Z.

This is what's confusing me, how can it be seen in some areas but, not in others.
