Does anyone know of any Rallying in the South East this winter (or sources of info). I'll be heading up to Northumberland in late Dec but would love to find some rallying down here!

The only roughly "South East" are the Tempest (Aldershot this Saturday 3rd November) or Sunseeker (Bournemouth in the early spring)

The rest are long gone...

There's a tarmac rally at Snetterton on Sunday, that's nearly South East. :)

Not really I suspect what Sam was after I'm sure.... he no doubts want to see lunatics hurtling down dirt tracks in woods :)

Tempest sounds intresting I wonder if I get off working:thinking:

Just had a look at the spectator guide- does anyone have any hints of which stage to go to for the best action?

Thanks for all the replies guys!

Temptest was what got me thinking about rallies this winter; im working at Brands on Saturday so have to miss it :'(

Guess i'll just have to see whats happen up North over the winter!

Im suprised there isnt much over winter, is it more of a summer sport down here?

It'll depend what you mean by best action, it looks like three very distinct stages.
You could try searching Flickr for "tempest rally " followed by the name of each stage (one stage name at a time) to see what they look like as they're likely to have been used in previous years. And the same on YouTube should bring up external footage and onboard footage.

I've never been to any stages in the South but looking at the maps in the spectator guide:
-Warren looks similar to a lot of the Yorkshire forest stages so I'd guess that's going to be the typical forest rally type of stage.
-Pavilion is very straight which will be dull other than possibly getting to see the cars on the limiter, but looking at the spectator approach route the spectator area is probably near the few corners at the end anyway. They don't seem to have marked the actual spectator area on that map however. It's got "Royal Pavilion" marked near the parking so I guess it could be a country home type stage - which could be set up in pretty much any way a rally stage possibly could be.
-Rushmoor looks like a super special/spectator stage/spectator special which normally means there'll be a lot of cones, tape, hay bales and things of that nature. The name Rushmoor Arena suggests you can probably see a lot of the stage, if not all of it, from one position and the loop layout suggests the cars probably go past more than once as part of the same stage.

Based purely off the maps I'd pick Warren, but I haven't checked Flickr/YouTube to see what the stages look like.

Royal pavilion...no, that's not a country home...I know it well :-P

Lol

There's two wooded stages that are pine forests, plus another that's on mod land that you aren't allowed on and the arena stage that's boring.

Either of the forest stages are ok, but finding the really decent places needs local knowledge and stout footwear...that's rally for you.

Have done tempest a few times, it is quite fun

Longmoor rally 29th December 2012

I didn't mean it was an actual country home, just that it's that type of stage. As in a stage based wholly or partly in the grounds surrounding a structure of some sort rather than buried out in the forests or built in a car park with some cones and tape. Though obviously there are two forest sections in that particular stage.

However, upon trying to find more information about it, it appears that assessment was wrong.
