In an effort to get myself out more with my camera I want to get some sort of rain cover so that a wet day is no longer an excuse.

I have a Z5ii and the longest lens I use is an 18-35 with the FTZ. Other than that’s its short primes.

I’ve seen people use bin/ snappy bags but I’d like something more permanent.

Any recommendations?

I have looked at the Think Tank Emergency Rain Cover and it looks like the medium one might be a good choice but keen to hear from everyone here.

I've tried plastic bags + elastic bands, custom rain covers, but honestly, I usually prefer an umbrella when that is feasible.

I have one of these....not used it yet but I will try it soon. I've tried it on in the house and it appears a bit cumbersome to use if I'm honest, I keep it in my bag just in case. My fear is that I either have to walk round 'wearing' it and not being able to use my hands, and if I take a hand out, hand gets wet, then will wet the camera/steam up the inside...

Also, in a rainstorm, I reckon by the time I've actually got it inside the cover, the camera will be soaking and so will the inside.

Jury's still out on them for me.

My 2c - they're a bit like straps - a personal thing. I've got a ThinkTank monster, a ThinkTank emergency & a Vanguard Alta (large).

They each have their pluses & minuses. The Vanguard is in my bag or pocket "just in case"; if it's hosing it down I take the ThinkTank monster (is it a Hydrophobia? Not near it to check)

I've just bought a couple of think tank hydrophobias - I've tried a few over the years, mainly cheap on amazon and with these I do really think you get what you pay for. The hole in the back for your viewfinder is worth it alone, protects the camera and you don't have to look through a crappy plastic see through bit of the cover which often got misted up.

I have used the waterproof nylon ones that you can find on Ebay fairly cheap for years
They are available in different sizes to suit all available lenses
I have have photographed in heavy rain many times with no issues
