Rain Covers

The Op-tech ones, sold in packs of a few, are good, cheap, and pack small for always carrying just in case. Basically a transparent L-shaped sleeve with a drawstring on the cuff at the lens end, with your hand going up the downward end. Been using them for years, at a rate of one getting messed up or lost every two years.

Hi Wayne
recently got one for Christmas from Camera Accessories Outdoor, I like you had looked around and they differed greatly in price, the one I got is reversable, green on the inside and a mottled leaf/tree pattern on the outer I got it for my Canon 1D3 and Sigma 150-600mm C lens, its got plenty of room in fact its a tad on the big side but thats not a problem as the excess material at the camera end can be turned back a bit but it does need the lens hood in place it protects it brilliantly and its still easy to access all buttons and view the sceen/viewfinder, I think it was around the £39 mark

I use the bottom part of leg from an old pair of waterproof trousers, if there's a zip then so much the better. And costs nothing!

Another thumbs up for Kevin Keatley and I also purchased from his sale for my Nikon 200-500.....prompt delivery and a helpful chap if you have any questions.

Cheers

I use the Optech ones for my sports photography, I've used it during heavy downpours and also sleet and snow. To me they are a better value for money than the expensive versions that are available.

Although I have a WWS cover I find I use that when I need to conceal the camera rather than protect from the rain. I have a few Optech rain covers in the bag at all times just in case they are needed. The Optech covers cover the whole camera. I find you have to operate the camera from outside otherwise a warm hand on the inside can cause fogging of the rain cover. I also use elastic to hold it on at the front rather than rely just on the drawstring. On a beach I've been known to use electrical tape to tape is down properly but usually it means it can't be reused.
