I'm going to RAF Coningsby tomorrow to have a go at the fighter jets. I'll be using my D7000, AFS 300mm F4 with a 1.4 tc so hopefully should get some good photos. First time at this so any advice welcome.

If they're landing from the East, then you'll probably not need the converter. But you will need a step ladder.
From the other end, get on the mounds. Land shots are great. Aircraft Taxing out from the main pans make for good pictures. Aircraft coming out from the HAS farm though, I wouldn't know, never seen one them come from there when I've been on the mound.
It being a 'fighter' station the pilots get to do lots of circuits, so you get a few chances at each aircraft.
