anyone any idea why a D3 that will fire a SB-900/SB-800 without any problem will not fire a radio trigger mounted in the hot shoe? I have two D3 bodies - same on each. Trigger fires from the D2Hs no problem - or from the D3 if the radio trigger is connected with a short cable to the sync socket. TIA!!

I don't have a problem, all is as it should be, as flash said, which trigger is it?

 I have no idea, apart from mentioning the obvious (is the hot shoe disabled in the custom functions?) I'm stumped.

I use pocket wizards daily with my D3 and we did try the poverty wizards at one stage but not those particular ones included with the Lencarta kit.

Ask Garry Edwards or give them a call maybe?

totally baffling - the D3 (s) will fire the SB800/900 in the hot shoe - the SU-800 works perfectly they just won't fire these triggers unless connected with a cable. D2Hs fires the trigger every time.

Garry Edwards is on the case... but mystified at the moment, as I use exactly the same camera and the same radio trigger without problem.

Indeed mate, I wonder of it has anything to do with voltages/outputs of the D3 hot shoe?

Or maybe the hot shoe itself? Nikon have changed the seat and the foot a little since the D2H haven't they?

Both shoes LOOK exactly the same - and the Nikon flashes fire on all bodies without probs... :bang:

The radio trigger works great on the D2Hs body but just refuses on their of the D3 bodies. It WILL work if I connect the D3 sync socket to the radio trigger via the little supplied cable.....just not from the hot shoe as it's supposed to. I'm completely baffled. Might be worth returning the trigger for a different one - just to see?

I would  Keep us posted too.

Ok - I suggested to Lencarta Customer Service 48hrs ago that I return the trigger and try another one, just to elimate the trigger as the problem. NO ANSWER.

I also want to swap the softbox I got with the kit for an umbrella/umbrella reflector - which costs less - NO ANSWER.

:(

Bummer, well they are a small company but two days is a little on the long side, have you tried calling or emailing?

that was by email....maybe tomorrow I'll have to call...not sitting by the phone all day every day though . . .

Reason for the delay is that Garry appears to be there on his own and is also a full time working photographer - so not sitting by the phone/computer all day either. He's offered to change the radio trigger although to be honest neither of us are that confident it will make a difference - still worth a try though - and my softbox will get swapped for another brolly. :)

Happy to report that I received a replacement radio trigger today - and it works on all my bodies - including the D3's. Happy ending!

Goodo mate!

Funny as it sounds but it's better to be a faulty trigger unit than anything else isn't it.

Glad it's all sorted

Still a mystery - but at least it's not my cameras - happy customer now! :)
