Just got a Canon R6 and am working through the various settings in the menu etc mixed in with trying the camera out.

I have Back Button Focussing installed, and I notice sometimes when getting the focus I get a quantity of little squares moving around the viewfinder looking for the focus I guess.

Could someone advise what setting in the menu can change this, and what is usually the best setting to use for day to day focussing

Probably a daft question but I am having a mental block on sorting this one

A further question I have identified is there a way to set playback of an image so that the automated view after taking a photo is displayed only in the viewfinder << SORTED <<

It's all under the pink menu, page 1

AF Operation is where you set continuous AF or one shot AF
AF Method is where you set "smiley face + tracking" (the little boxes) or old style one point focus methods.

I have a button to switch between them as I find the smiley face tracking to be excellent apart from when it's not and can switch back and forth as needed (custom functions, orange menu, assign button). Also have a button to switch between continuous and one shot AF.

What's best depends on what you shoot. If it's general photography though, the smiley face tracking does a really good job. But if you don't want the hassle of switching back & forth, then one point focus is your thing.

Adding to the questions: Does anyone know how to move the AF point using the joystick, because I seem to have missed that memo.

Ian - I think you have to do something in customise buttons / settings to use the joystick if I recall the manual when I was setting camera up the default is off
Nice one Andrew. Found it.
