Quite good youtube posing guide

Interesting, but I'm going to be Captain Contrary & disagree with some of these suggestions too..

1. Spine straight. Avoiding hunching is sensible, but an arch, twist or 'popped' hip can be add shape, dynamism and interest to a pose
3. Minimize 90 degree angles. Right angles, especially when not parallel to the frame, can add a lot of strength to a composition To be fair he says that they can sometimes be useful
4. Soften fingers. Sometimes, but again a rule to break. I'd usually avoid his suggestion of having the back of the hand facing the camera, though

I stopped there at #6. I suspect that the problem with 'posing systems' like these is that it would be better to look at the impression and feeling that a pose conveys as a whole and tweak details individually. Some of what he says is worth thinking about - but be ready to discard it.

I looked at his own work - which is just beautiful; he clearly knows what he's talking about. I doubt that he actually uses a system himself, though.
