i was wondering what is the quickest way to diffuse a sb900 or 2 to light a 5*7 foot background.
By quickest i mean, in the shortest distance.
We do portraits in a very small space where the guns are only a few feet away from the bg, and would like to light it as evenly as possible. And without hitting the subject which again is pretty close to the bg due to space.

i didnt know if a softbox, brollies, thru or reflected, would give the best results at the lowest power setting possible for efficiency.

Any help appreciated.

Thanks

big ass reflector behind the subject and having the gun at the wall bouncing off the reflector

i guess that would work, but may be a bit of an issue not getting the reflector in shot if doing a single portrait. Would a reflector brollie at the side be the next best thing?

anything off center would be uneven thats why I mentioned the panel, what about a lightsphere or stofen with a gobo to stop the light going forward ?

i meant almost like a high key bg. just a to eliminate shadows from the subject.
Im thinking the hilite box maybe a better way to go. im sure 2 sb900s would fill it enough.

I lit the background in this photograph with two 430EX flashes, cross lighting our dining room wall. By this I mean the flash on the left was aimed at the right edge of the wall and the flash on the right was aimed at the left edge of the wall. The flashes were gobo'd with a Honl flags to stop the spill from directly lighting our backs. They were less than two feet from the wall and we were stood about three or four feet from the wall.

The lighting was pretty even from left to right (probably about six feet wide) and from top to bottom (probably about 3 feet high) but you'd have to have a play to see if you could cover 5x7 feet with no fall off.

Hope this helps.
