quick SB-600 advice?

not really had an excuse/chance to experiment with my SB-600, but got a last minute job tonight to do some red carpet-style photography, which will naturally require flash. what settings would you suggest I dial in on the flashgun.

I imagine i'll be shooting from 10-20ft away, outside, this evening :thinking:
 
As soon as it gets dark you should be out practicing like mad, rather than turning up and just winging it...
 
bump the ISO up so the flash has to work less hard and recharges quicker.

good info, thanks Pete... I have the D90 and am pretty pleased with its performance in lowlight at 1600iso, so will dial that into the camera I think and shoot at about f4...

Agreed, make use of whatever ambient is around too.

As soon as it gets dark you should be out practicing like mad, rather than turning up and just winging it...

Also agreed, get ready now and be somewhere near your final location by the time its dark and start firing away. Take plenty of spare batteries, the SB600 is very light on them, but no point finding yourself short.
