Quick release plate for tripod.

Hello

I have received a tripod but the release plate is missing

On searching for a replacement one I have come across a problem.

All the release plates measure 4cm by 4cm.

But mine measures at 4cm by 3.5cm.

Anybody got any ideas if it would still fit well enough or where I can look..

It's a vanguard tripod

What’s the tripod model (fully name not just manufacture). a photo of the tripod head may help too.

Several manufacturers use several different plate types. Other use the arca Swiss type plate which is a bit more of a standard method.

Also depends on the head - if it’s a brand-new tripod sold with a head, then it should also include the appropriate plate. Otherwise we need the make and model of the head, which could be completely different to the make of the tripod.
 
Ok ..I was given it so it's no bother to just throw it away, I just thought I'd ask...

I think you'll find that this uses a common "pyramid" style camera platform, like the one on my Atlantic Alfa 3. They are generally compatible with the Velbon VE series heads and are available cheaply on ebay. Try a search for "tripod quick release plate velbon" and you should come up with something like this...

It looks like the right thing but obviously I can't guarantee it.

Still, £3.50 seems like a reasonable price.

I bought one of those for one of my cheapo tripods (came from Lidl), as I'd lost the original.
Mine came within a week from a UK seller.

Speak to Vanguard. If you give them the model number they maybe able to find you one that’s suitable.

I will order one and cross my fingers .

If it doesn't fit I will speak to vanguard in the new year ..
 
Amazon (or the marketplace!) have the 43mm square ones and a good returns policy.
