would you consider HDR an applied technique.

say: forensic, medical, areial, underwater, infra red, ultra violet as other examples of applied techniques
 
You couldn't use HDR as a forensic technique as the images require manipulation and that would rule them out as evidence.

Not sure why you would want to for Aerial or Underwater, as it would be difficult if not impossible to get suitable multiple images. I also have difficulty in seeing the advantages in IR and UV photography.

Having no real experience with medical I can't comment on that one
 
Umm....I see HDR as a gimmick in 99% of the pics it gets used for. A lot of people seem to apply it to really crap pictures in a hope that making them look like cartoons will somehow make them good photos.

Used properly it's a useful tool, but it's not the same sort of thing as forensic or IR photography, it's more of an image manipulation technique.

sorry you must of misunderstood my question lay out.
i was meaning would you consider HDR as an applied technique.
as in would HDR blend in with the list i had stated. rather than using it with the others.
 
Sorry about that, but I'm with Flash. Good technique when used correctly, otherwise......
