Quick question using outer focus points on 2.0 TC

should I be using the outer focus points when using a 2.0 TC (mk3) on a 300 2.8 (mk 2) and a 7D2 ?
Or just use the centre point
I don't use the 2x TC very often
Mostly the lens on its own and the 1.4 TC and get great results
I do find the 2.0 harder to use tricky to hit focus especially on small subjects a long way off
Am I better off just using the centre focus point and focus and recompose rather than use the outer points?
It doesn't help though that I'm using a monopod rather than a tripod but it's not really practical to use one at the zoo

Well you have all AF points available as cross type with that combination so I certainly wouldn't limit myself to the centre point only.

Ahh I see thanks that's what I've been doing I'll carry on then
I wasn't sure about that sounds like it's down to my technique
I do find in good light it's not too tricky to get consistent focus with the 2.0 TC but when it's cloudy low light it's not so easy but I guess that's how it is I'm pushing the limits of using hand holding/ monopod at 600mm
