I have imported 944 photos into Lightroom. This morning I went through all my pictures using win explorer and deleted a load of them. They still show in lightroom, I guess it creates thumbnails. Obviously when I click on them it says photo not found. How do I get LR to go through it's imports and update it so only the remaining files are showing and delete all it's thumbnails for the others?

Thanks in advance.

When you work with LR you should always move/delete photos from within Lightroom. The pictures you deleted outside LR will have a little ? on the thumbnail in LR - highlight them all and click delete. It will then remove them from LR.

Thanks. Is there a quick way to highlight them all as I have deleted hundreds...

Quickest way this time might be to REMOVE them all from LR - and re-import them. Highlight them and hit delete - LR will ask if you want to delete from disk or remove from LR - choose remove! Then re-import - and in future do everything from within LR.

there is - that's for when you've moved pics outside of LR

Well when I clicked it it created a quick collection of the 345 missing photos and then I just had to hit delete.

You can "Synchronise" a folder. Any files physically absent from the folder will be removed from the Catalog. Any files not already in the Catalog will be imported and added without moving the files.

In the Library view simply right click the folder name and choose "Synchronise". Then follow your nose.
