Quick question for Nikon 300mm f/2.8 VR owners

I'd be grateful if somebody who has one of these lenses could confirm what size(s) the hole(s) on the tripod mount are. I have a customer who wants to know, and I won't have a copy of the lens available to check for several days, and the instruction manual is silent on the matter.

Its the standard size (whatever that size is!)

Stewart, I would get hold of an adapter (3/8 to 1/4 IIRC) and tell the customer you'll be supplying it with the lens just in case he (or indeed she) needs it. A small investment on your part and great customer service!

Maybe a call to Nikon Customer support (0330 123 0932) would get a definitive answer?

yup normally 1/4" x 20 TPI UNC.
