Have just decided on a camera to get me started in this then came up against the dilema of which bag!!

Figure I am going to be walking and cycling so a backpack style is best.

Can you please answer me this though....

Will both of these fit a Nikon D40, 18-55 & a 55-200mm lens along with a flash and other bits and bobs.

If so, where is the best place to get one for a good price?

Or is there a better option for c£40?

Many many thanx

I bought the 100 originally. It was fine with the stock 18-135 on the D80, but it couldn't handle the D80 with the 70-300VR on. Nice bags, i've pootled around on the bike, nothing to serious. They've been good for walking too.

I've got the 100 for sale in the classifieds....:)

i have the 100.

Its ok if a little small. its good for a walk about bag if you want 1 or two smaller lenses.

Im lookig to buy a backback type though.

I have the 200 which will fit a 400d and 90-300 fitted, so should be fine for 18-200 and Nikon.

The only thing I dont like is the top compartment is quite small (and would be smaller on the 100) so if you intend to all days on the bike, you might want a bigger bag. That said, its very comfortable wearing all day and has the AW cover.

The 100 will take a body (5D in my case) with a 25-105 or 12-24, with the unused lens also. The camera/lens measures 7 ins and just fits in. The remaining compartment measures about 5 to 6 ins in length, 2ins wide and 5 to 6 ins deep. The external larger pocket will hold a 550EX flash. The external smaller pocket will hold batteries etc.

The 200 will hold a camera/lens of 9 ins. The 2 remaining internal compartments measure approx 6 ins long, 3 and 4 ins wide, and about 6 and half ins deep. The two external pockets are proportionately larger - big enough for a non-too-small video camera, or a lightweight rain jacket, or water/snacks etc in the bigger of the two.

I've not yet settled on my "dream bag" having worked out in the meantime that I don't actually need to carry all the kit all of the time.

I aquired a bag with a magazine subscription which I then took an immediate dislike to and sold on (think that was a lowepro 200).

My advice would be get your kit together, get down to jessops or whoever, find something you like and haggle on the price or get online. That's my plan!

I've had the 100 and 200 (100 was sold to me by a mate who thought it was a 200).

The 100 could just about fit in my EOS 30D (medium size body for the non-canon people) with a sigma 70-300 attached, but it was a bit of a squeeze length and width wise. Probably suited to the smaller body cameras (say an EOS 400D or similar) with a small to medium lens attached.
Nice and small for carrying though.

The 200 is much better for me. I can comfortably fit in my EOS with any lens attached, plus 4 more lenses (although seeing as I only have 3 lenses in total, I use the other space for storing lens hoods)

IMO, the Slingshots aren't the best option. Yes, you can get the camera out fairly easily with one pulled across the chest but to get at a spare lens, you'll need to take it off and put it down somewhere. A proper backpack is a better solution (again, IMO) - you'll need to take it off to get at the camera and to change lenses but it'll be more comfortable when loaded than a slingshot and will carry a LOT more kit, not to mention sarnies, water, dry clothes... Find a cheap MiniTrekker AW (or similar).

My advice is treat it like renting a skip, go for one that is one size up from what you think you need as you'll be amazed how much stuff you find to put in it!

So I have bought a small skip in the end 2nd hand.

Don't have much kit (at the moment) as have only just bought my first DSLR (yesterday).

Needed a bag to go away with at the weekend...:naughty: and shall re-assess when back and had a chance to figure out what I really need/want.

Cheers
