Hi folks can the haze on a sunny day ruin your focus, as today I had the sigma 150-600mm on my 70D trying to take shots of some birds at Exceat. I have always managed to focus know problem at all and get the shot as my shots in Flickr show ( Bird shots ), but not one bird was in focus at all. I was using Spot metering, full zoom and about 500mm zoom yet none came out, it was very hot and seemed hazy, so can haze ruin a chance to auto focus :)

Haze will certainly affect the sharpness of an image and bright light off mud/water can cause issues with contrast that make focussing more difficult ... I have been at one hide this morning where it is often pointless taking photos when the sun is bright.

Thank you Gramps, it was strange to see as even cars on the road looked odd.

Helpful thread title ;)

Haze will certainly affect the sharpness of an image which is also going to affect contrast focusing.

How about posting one of said photos to see what your problem is cheers mike

Hi Mike, as not one of the shots was in focus I deleted the lot, I will be going back again, but instead of just zooming out I will get closer :)

Quite often, people don't realise how much haze can really affect your AF and photos.

Especially more so with using long lenses.

Thanks Wez, I found out that day I must say, but a good lesson learnt for me :)
