I have 2 Lencarta elite pro 300 studio lights, this setup HERE and also a Nikon SB900 speedlight, what i would like to know is it possible to trigger the studio lights and the SB900 at the same time from the trigger supplied with the lights, and if so how is it done, as i was thinking of either lighting the background with the SB900 so using both lights for the subject, or using one of the lights for the background and the flashgun for the subject, any advice with this is greatly appreciated :)

Anyone know

You could use the SB900 to trigger the studio flashes OR you could buy an optical slave trigger from FITP (if he is selling them yet but that is where I got mine).

If only SB 25's and 28's had that option :(

If only the more expensive canon 580exII did it too, I do find that canon have a tendency all short of making a fantastic products.

Jason & Tom,

I bought a couple of flashes from FITP which he had accidentally listed as having slave flash functions but they didn't. As he is such a top chap and looks after his customers he sent me two tiny optical slave triggers, little blocks that fit onto the hot shoe. He was asking about whether he thought there would be a market for them. I said I thought there would be. Might be worth you two contacting him they are really very useful.

I've toyed with the idea of the optical slave add-ons, I suppose they're pretty small so take up next to no space in the bag. It would also stop me buying even more skyports...

You can get them at most dealers, including Jessops, for about a tenner. Less on eBay.

I have a couple that live as backup triggers, fit neatly inside a sb24 stofen...well worth having.

Just taken this to show how small they are....

shove it in su4 mode and treat it like another studio strobe, or put it on a radio slave and use it to trigger the studio heads
