Does anyone know of any third party Speedlight's that are fully compatible with the pocketwizard flex system, I'm asking as a Nikon user, I recently purchased a Shanny SN600sn and although the TT5 fired the flash, when I tried it with the AC3 it wouldn't work properly, I could control the output either really high or low but nothing in between, so the Shanny is obviously only partially compatible, I'm looking for something fully compatible, if anyone has any ideas, Many thanks

Anyone ?

With Canon there was a compatibility list on the website, and IIRC the likes of Yongnuo weren't listed, but Nissin and Metz were.

Same as the Nikon Phil, I suppose the only alternative is change my whole system to Yongnuo, but I do like the PWs particularly the AC3 controller it's so easy to use, how does the Yongnuo YN622N-TX system compare ? am I right in thinking if using the YN622N-TX controller with the new Yongnuo 685s that you only need the TX for full control, as the receivers are built in to the 685s ?

Yes, that's right.

I had the PW's and thought they were great, until radio interferance p***ed on my strawberries :(

I sold them and bought a load of Yongnuo gear, the build quality isn't as good, but they are reliable, easy to use and just work. And if one breaks, they're cheap to replace.

I'd seriously consider a change, oddly the PW's still have a decent 2nd hand value, not as good as when I sold mine, but you'll get a sum that'll get a full replacement set.

Look at the Godox V860II (the lithium battery is geat) with the X1T controller or if you are a manual shooter then there is a new XT32 on the way or they do do an AA battery version

Mike
If I was starting from scratch tomorrow, I'd seriously look at starting with this setup.

But flogging 5 flashguns? The YN system works for me and integrates well enough with my Godox (and Lencarta) manual kit.

Thanks Guys, I am seriously thinking of changing my setup Phil, I recently had to fit a new hotshoe to one of my TT5,s and that alone cost £35, so although PWs are great the cost of replacing parts can prove expensive, @ Mike, yes the Godox V860II look really good, but at £170 each there's not much difference in a S/H SB900 I do like the idea of the lithium battery on them though, probably lasts quite a bit longer than AAs

I have 2 being delivered for the combined price of £220 and therefore have a couple of the V860s that will soon need to find a new home

Mike

I take it 2 for £220 is a s/h private sale then ? So what's the differences in the V860 and the V860II ?

I'm seriously looking at the Yongnuo 685s as they look very good with the built in receiver, on Amazon with a YN622N-TX for £104 delivered

£220 is new fro China, the big difference is that the V8600II has the X1 trigger system built in so will integrate nicely with the AD600 and AD360II set up I have without having to clip on extra receivers

Mike

Ah yes I should have guessed that, similar to the Yongnuo 685 having the receivers built in, do you have a link to the seller please Mike
