I am planning an exhibition in Kl and will display about 20 pieces of my work framed and with each picture sitting on an easel. I will be showing off a selection of 17 x 17 and 17 x 22 all printed by myself.
My question is, is it normal to splash out on expensive framing, borders, and glass or keep it simple?

My gut feeling is to show them off in the best possible way :)
Comments please?

Would have thought might be an issue screwing into the floor, understand every thing has to be reasonably knock over proof if poss.

On easels sounds like a nightmare. Has the gallery approved your idea.

Easels apart, you need to display your pictures the best way possible - that usually means mounted and framed. Exhibitions are expensive.

My first thought is if they are displayed on easels, make sure that the frame is secure on the easel, and that the easel is secure on the table / floor...screwed down if necessary.
I don't think that the owners of the location would be happy with me screwing the easels to there floor. I Would just have to accept the fact that maybe they will get knocked over and if so it should be just a case of picking them back up again. I have changed my mind about showing them under glass so I don't need to worry about that :)

My exhibition will be in a large open foyer so unfortunately no walls, hence the easels. I'm thinking easels as I can get them made for about $15 dollars a pop and they will be easy to transport to another location if I decide to have more exhibitions. I've seen executions in shopping malls that have used portable walls but they are defiantly big and not easy to transport.

As has already been said, exhibitions are expensive, especially if you are mounting and framing quite a few images. You really should go for the best possible, as cheap frames and mounts look crap. If you've spent huge amounts of money on gear to take the pictures, no point cutting corners on the medium by which you will be displaying them in public.

The other thing to consider is if you will be reusing the frames afterwards (e.g will you be holding future exhibitions using different pictures in the same frames) and where you will store the frames afterwards. I'm fortunate as I have a spare double wardrobe in a spare bedroom to store mine when I'm not exhibiting but not everyone has that kind of space!
