Question re viewing resolution

So a 5k Mac screen can “resolve” around 14.9 million m pixels ,so if that’s the highest medium that I would view a photo on,apart from cropping and .””dynamic range”? Is there a point to getting a camera and lens combination that resolves more than that?

If you don't print LARGE - then probably not

My largest print in over a decade was just 1m wide, easily done from my (slightly cropped) 24mp sensor, making any bigger sensor a bit pointless

If you ever want to change the 'angle' of an image - levelling the horizon or making something vertical, then the higher the resolution the original image is the better the result will be.

5k screen = 5k image provided you don't do anything to it. So 20-24mp will cover this with a tiny bit to spare

No, if that’s the max resolution you’re going to view on. I had the 5k Mac for a while, I found it really odd editing as viewing 1:1 didn’t ‘zoom in’ very much as I was already at approx 2/3 size viewing 24mp images.

Macbook Pro 16”. The iMac was better for editing but as it was up in the office I hardly used it as I often edit whilst doing something else such as watching telly
