Hi there
this might be a stupid question but i am trying to set up my D800 command dials. I would like to set it so that the Aperture is on auto which i have done and the shutter speed and iso are on separate command dials. At the moment to change the iso i have to push the iso button as well.
is it possible to get it on the command dial alone to change the iso, so one works the Shutter speed and one the iso?

Thanks for any comments

Rob

If you put the camera on Shutter Priority mode (S) the camera will automatically select the appropriate aperture for the shutter speed that you select with the main command dial (and taking account of the ISO in use).
You will need to set the ISO with the dedicated button + dial unless you use auto ISO.

Just a suggestion, Robert - having ISO, shutter speed and aperture all on manual keeps things very simple.

Thanks Dougie
i have had a look again and found that in the iso sensitivty there is a setting for iso easy and that make the iso work on the controller and you dont have to use the right hand button. so now i have S and iso easy and that makes it that i can hold the 400mm 2.8 lens and adjust the iso with 1 hand and shutter speed with the same hand using the 2 controllers.
many thanks for your advice

Rob - try this:

Menu d7 - set to Show ISO/Easy ISO

Menu f9 (Reverse Rotation) - choose Shutter speed/aperture
Menu f9 (Change main/sub) - choose OFF
Menu f9 (Aperture setting) - choose ON
Menu f9 (Menus and playback) - choose OFF

Put the camera into S mode (shutter priority) using mode button and rear dial.

You should now be able to change ISO with the front dial and shutter speed with the rear dial.

Looks like you already found it (post 3) - that'll teach me not to refresh the web page for 20 minutes.
