Yes
I`ve just bought a 2nd hand one that didn`t come with a tripod collar. Can you tell me what the part/model number is, as I`m struggling to find one on the net.

Couldn`t find one on the canon site either!

Cheers!

All it says on mine is Tripod Mount Ring B(W)

I'm sure it's the exact same ring as is used on the 70-200 2.8L IS, and possibly other lenses too, so you shouldn't have any trouble sourcing one.

There`s a couple, one that fits the F4 200 is and another one, but I couldn`t find any info as to whether it fitted the 100-400. Just wanted to make sure that I was getting the correct one!!

Cheers for that, you`re a star.

There's loads of alternatives about including this Chinese copy.

I find it easier to use mine without the collar, it rarely see's the tripod.

B(W) is what you're looking for. Fits the 70-200 f2.8's, 300 f4L IS,
35-350L, 100-400L, 28-300L IS

I looked at those, wondered about the quality though. I don`t like the idea of relying on a cheap mount to hold £1500 worth of equipment!!

Might give one a go, see what it`s like though.

I wouldn't skimp personally - I just posted the link to give you the choice. It might be fine, but it just might be false economy. ;)

Your looking at spending near £100 on the canon variant.

I`ve ordered one, I`ll let you know what it`s like. I may wrap the neck strap around the tripod.... LOL.

I got one of the HK lens collars for my 70-200 f4. Construction looks almost as good as the Canon one on my 100-400. Manufacturing tolerances aren't as good as the Canon as it was a little bit of a struggle to get it to fit. The locking screw didn't quiet line up with the thread, you had to wiggle it to get it in place .Once on it's fine. And considering it was a lot cheaper than the Canon alternative I can't grumble about the tight fit.

I will warn you that a couple of US members on POTN have had problems with those cheap eBay collars.

See how it goes, I personally would not risk it.
