I'm selling something on eBay on which I've stated clearly that I will not post outside the UK, the item is quite heavy and would be very expensive to post abroad.

At the moment the leading bidder is Italian and a member of the Italian eBay site so I'm assuming he's not living here. I've tried contacting him but got no reply as yet (24hrs later). The auction has over two days to run so it's quite possible he will be outbid. His feedback is only 9 but it's all good so the question is... do I cancel his bid or leave it in the hope that he will be outbid later on?

I don't want the hassle of having to refuse to sell it to him and put it up for auction again if he wins but I can't be sure until he tells me that he's not in the UK.

cancel it, just in case :(

I HATE ebay. Tried to sell one item on there a while ago and some scumbag 'bought' it at bin price although i'd clearly stated my terms. Dodgy credit cards, Nigeria and withdrawn lot. Never again!!!:bat:

I had this when I sold a camera on ebay I said UK only and the winning bid was from Italy, I explained the postage would be higher and that I would only post after funds had cleared, everything went smoothly. Perhaps I was lucky:)

Just go with your gut feeling.

Cancel the bid and block him from bidding. He can always contact you if it is that important.

I think I'll leave it till tomorrow night, if he's not been in touch I'll cancel his bid then.

Cancel the bid, I buy and sell loads on eBay and only deal with UK traders.

Any bidders from outside the UK gets the bullet immediatly, Not worth the hassle.;)

I had this once. I just cancelled it with a message to the buyer to explain.

He didnt bid again.

Be careful of waiting until the last minute to cancel it...Leave it too late and no one will bid on it again :)

I think you've done everything correctly so far, you've contacted him and give him time to respond. If you don't hear back from him by the morning delete his bid and send him a message to explain why you did. Be wary of foreign bidders, I've yet to receive a genuine bid from foreign shores

I did the deed, cancelled but didn't block him just in case. I think he's genuine enough, he's recently bought other stuff in the same line but as I said above I don't want the hassle.

A good tip for the future is to put a high figure in the postage part for other countries.

At least if anyone is stupid enough to still want it you will make it worth your while sending it there.

Got in from work tonight to find he had bid uo again, still no contact so this time I've blocked him as well. grrr

Shame on all of you... :bat:

I have dealt with a lot of guys in the U.S. and ran a rating (buying only) of 20+ since December 06.

Planning to start selling soon too!!

Thanks markp I'll look out for that next time. I feel happier now, the item has gone back up to the higher price with a UK bidder. I was worried that it would end up going for the lower price after all the faffing about.
