Hi folks, I'm thinking of buying a Sigma 70-300mm APO lens in the near(ish) future and have read various reviews about it and it seems as though it will be ideal for me. I have one wee niggling worry though a few of the reviews mention the main bad point of the lens as being the fact that the 'Front element and extension rotates during focussing'.

I'm a real newbie and tbh this doesn't mean much to me , I was hoping someone could explain to me how this is a downside and what it would effect in the way of performance etc.

Regards
Tommy.

I dont think its to with performance more if you were fitting filters etc to the front that needed to stay square to the horizon. If you do decide you want one i have one for sale only about 4 weeks old.

Ah I see, so you would be best focusing first then fitting a filter before taking a shot aye?

Thanks for the offer of sale on the lens but it's gonna be another month or two before I can afford one, will stick a thread up in the wanted section around that time once I have the cash for the lens though.

Regards
Tommy.
