i'm thinking of buying a sandisk 4gb high speed SDHC card for my nikon D80 from here or theres another one from the same place which i can't link to, similar but no usb hub and comes with a card reader, anyway my question is will it make much difference to a normal one(write and read speed) with the nikon D80,as i don't want to fork out for no benefit, comments much appreciated

As long as they are "fast" cards should be ok. Ive got a couple of cheap 4gb SDHC cards and they are slow to write to.
Bought a couple of 2gb Extreme III SD cards, what a difference in write speed, the D80 can just about keep up on continuous wind with emptying the buffer, the SDHC cards would "freeze" the camera for about 4 seconds once the buffer was full since they were slow to write to.

Hope that makes sense.

yes it does,i also have the extreme 3 2gb, which i used on my D50, i just wanted the extra capacity so to cope with the 10mp of the D80, as i sometimes shoot raw, so i think i may go for the high speed sandisk again when there in stock, thanks

just one more thing does anyone know where to get any other brands for high speed 4gb SDHC cards, as the sandisk ones seem to be in short supply

The thing with SDHC cards is that to read them you need a SDHC reader as they are not backward compatible with standard SD readers that seem to be built into every PC and Laptop these days.

Therefore the £49.99 SanDisk 4GB version is definately the one to go for out of the two you mention IMHO as it has the USB plug built into it and means you don't have to remember to bring a special reader to read the card in a PC that isn't yours.

However, why get the SDHC version when 2GB Sandisk Extreem III SD cards are availble for £15.99 from the same supplier. In my mind these are better, you get more (6GB) for less and you are less risk of loosing all your photos. In my experience each one fits about 200 RAW shots on my D80; I'd hate to loose 400+ photos beacuse I lost a 4GB card or the card died on me
