Yes
Having recently joined a camera club (photographic society), I would like to enter competitions that are run regularly.

The judging is done by viewing the images (size must be no larger than 1400 pixels wide by
1050 pixels high and must be saved in JPEG format) on a projector so that everyone can see while the judge is making comments and marking. The projector looks a very good one (HD I think)

My question is, are there any subtle tweeks or particular processing I should apply to my images to have them seen at their best for projection rather than for printing?

Thanks in advance for your help

a) they may well say resize for projection to 1024 by 768 (for example)
b) find out what the resolution of the projector is and resize to that. If you don't the projector may just give up, or worse - interpolate which will make the picture 'orribly pixelated

Thanks for the help. Ive found the max image size allowed and will check on the projector resolution.

Will I need to do anything in particular to sharpening or saturation etc to show my pics at their best on a projector?

Your club competition secretary should be able to give you the spec for image preparation, or it may be listed in their rules or new members pack if they issue one. Generally, it's unlikely that every image you edit will have dimensions that match 1400 x 1050 pixels. For example, if your image is in landscape format, resize just as for the web, using sRGB colour space (this is the usual, but check first), and with the width at 1400 pixels. I just did this with one of my images, the height was 933 pixels. This could leave a white band at the top and bottom unless your clubs system automatically took care of it. Best make Photoshops Canvas 1400 x 1050 and colour black. This will fill in and take care of the possibility of glaring white bands top and bottom. I usually sharpen as for the web using similar sized images, and save around jpeg 8 - 12 with an image size around 250 - 400K max, but that's for our clubs 1024 x 768 projector. If your display is calibrated and your clubs projector too, it should project as on your display.

odd that you resize to 1400 x 1050 for a 1024 x 768 projector??
wouldn't you be better off going for 1024 x 768, or did I miss something?
