Just wondering if the Canon 430 EX ii has a pc sync connection ( I think that what they are called but please correct me if I'm wrong) I've been looking into trying some Strobist type techniques and will possibly look into buying a couple of these but I'd like to be sure they can be used ok with Ebay triggers or pocketwizard type triggers. If I'm mistaken about the way these triggers connect feel free to correct that also btw, finding the lighting side of things a bit daunting atm, possibly been reading too much and just have a bit of information overload.

Tommy.

Something like the Cactus V4 triggers connects to the flash via the hotshoe or a mini-jack connection - the hotshoe will connect to pretty much any flash unit including yours so don't worry about the PC/cable connections.

Cheers Pete, now you have said that I can actually see how it would fit together from the pics I've seen. So is it only the pocket wizard style triggers that need a pc connection, oh and do you know if there is one on the 430ex ii ?

Tommy.

As far as I'm aware the Canon flashes don't have PC connections, so you would either need a set of triggers which would accept the Canon hotshoe, or alternatively, a PC -> hotshoe adapter, I got some to go with my Pocket Wizards for about £4 each!

as far as I remember, there is no PC Sync on the 430, but there is on the 580ex2 (not sure about the 580ex)

Canon 430EX I and II do not have PC Sync port, but 580EX II does feature one:

Canon 580EX (Mark I) does not have PC Sync port:
