I'm not sure exactly what I want to go for here so feel free to offer me anything. But I am wanting to go and get some qualifications within photography or something of a similar nature. I live in Surrey not far from London. Is there anywhere I can go? It would give me a chance to speak with other photographers and get something at the end of it that I could potentially use in my career. Sorry if this seems vague, it's not my intention.
Oh also any websites or online stuff. Also don't want to spend thousands.
Thank you.

Graham,
this has been covered a lot recently and there are at least 2 maybe 3 very active threads discussing various online courses. If you are not 100% sure what you are looking for then your best bet is to do a search of the forums and subscribe to these threads I have mentioned.

Hi Graham, one of the threads Andy is referring to is on the OCA Art of Photography course. It is a module that forms part of a degree programme in photography. I have just started doing this course and it seems really worthwhile.

It might also be a good idea to investigate whether your local college offers any suitable courses.

If you want to speak to other photographers, I'd strongly suggest looking at a course at your local college/HE institute. I would imagine most places offer "how to use your camera" type courses (usually un-"qualified") but quite a few offer A level (evening) classes and that "instant" feedback from speaking to others as well as tutor feedback can be rewarding.

Good luck either way!

Ian.

Thank you for all you help. I will check out some of the other threads. I love the sound of the OCA art of photography. I will also pop into my local colleges and see what they offer. Thanks again. Any other suggestions are welcome too.

I'm doing an evening class at my local college...city & guilds in photography.

Loving every minute of it, and get access to college's darkroom and studio too.

It's one night a week for 3 hours so easy to fit in with other commitments.

Really? I will have to check that out ny friend. That sounds like something I could fit around general life. Thanks again, that's a really good shout.
