I wouldn't say that the AF-P version of the 70-300 is a cracking lens. punches well above its weight. The standard Nikon & Canon 70-300's are nothing to write home about anyway.
I did say standard.I wouldn't say that the AF-P version of the 70-300 is a cracking lens. punches well above its weight.
Do you mean the AF-S 4.5-5.6 ED VR? Mine I think is OK. I honestly don't know if there is any sort of issue with QC but it seems unlikely. This lens came out nearly 20 years ago so some examples could be quite old. Also zooms like this pump air in and out all the time in use so they are going to acquire dust if they are heavily used. Going by the serial number mine is a later example but it will still be 10+ years old in all probability and is completely clean.Have a Sigma 70-300 APO but still considering a Nikon 70-300 for garden birds. eBay lists 15 (yes 15) as “Faulty”
or “Haze” “Fungus” etc
No problems with Sigma
Any ideas on Nikon QC ?
That is my reading too.Am I correct in reading an AF-P lens won’t focus at all on my Nikon D300
According to Ken Rockwell lens compatibility chart. ?
I have bought several lenses from MFP and I always go for the best condition with no mention of dust, which I equate with heavy use. I avoid anything with mention of 'moisture' 'fungus' 'dust' etc which curiously never affect the image. Moisture in particular I find puzzling. If it was water it would only need to be kept in a dry place for a while and it would disappear.
