Canon model using speedlites,

Can the speedlites be adjusted from the menu in the camera body?
 
Isn't that what the PW AC3 controller is for?

The Canon ST-2 infra red controller can also control the ratios on two groups of flashes (ac-3 x3zones)

I also believe that the canon 580/580ii alsobhas features the will also accommodate & the possibly the k7d from menu

The PW ac-3 is a cheapish option IMO and offers a really quick way of changing rations or turning on/off triggering from remotely placed strobes

Iv been looking at getting either the AC3 or the SU800 (Same as the Canon STE2) both go on top of the Flex and do a similar job.. but which is the better solution? the SU800 is much more expensive.. but is it a better option?
