Hi all. Thanks for all the great information on here! Just getting started with my first roll of film in many years. I'm using Agfa Vista 200 but want to shoot it at 800 due to low light.

How easy is it to get the film pushed when developed? Is it a case of just asking anyone to do it or are they generally reluctant?

I've done quite a bit of reading and searching but can't seem to find the answer.

Thanks in advance

UK film lab give you the option of pushing film on their order form. I think they do a max of 3 stops. AG give you the option to do this too via their website ordering. Just mention it on the comments and write on the roll.

I pushed HP5 recently to 1600 ISO with AG. I got the negatives rather than scans and they came out well.

Great stuff, thanks Ruffmeister. I'd rather get the right film for the job in future but as the camera is a new purchase i'd rather test it out (and hone my skills!) on the cheap film.

... though if it doesn't come out right, will you know if you have made exposure errors, or the processor/pushing and/or scan was the problem?

I'd always suggest shooting fresh film at box speed or slightly under for testing and/or those new to the experience.

I've pushed Agfa Vista by 3 stops, developed at home and got results like these:

Yep something I hadn't considered.

Yep.. Hadn't considered that. Good advice.

Hoping for a bit of sun so I can rattle a few shots off - in which case should be able to get away with 200.

Those look pretty good. I was wondering how AGFA would look pushed.

1600 i think is its limit tbh.

I tried 3200 and 6400 but the results were poor, however, labs can probably get more out of films than i can with home developing kits
