Anyone got some useful advice?

12 week old pug was doing well, but now emptying all over the kitchen!!

Hmm, might be worth a trip to the vet just to check its not a urinary tract infection?

Buy the spray that gets rid of the scent. Catch it at it and put it straight outside. Praise it loads when it goes outside.
Put outside after every drink and feed.
Put outside every hour.
Create an action word when it goes, ie do your business... keep saying this gently as it goes toilet. And praise immediately afterwards.
Soon it will understand to go toilet when you say your action word.

Agree with all that and add take it out immediately it wakes up (pups cannot hold on). Watch out for it needing to go after play or if it starts "circling".
If you catch it peeing indoors. Say a firm NO, then pick it up and take it out. If it continues to pee outside go through the reward routine mentioned about, but if not do nothing.
There must be no physical punishment.
I have used that technique with 4 Labs and house training was near perfect within a week. Obviously, to be successfull, the pup needs a lot of supervision. The trick is to be so alert to the pup's needs that "mistakes" happen very little.

Agreed

Currently have a 13 week old Springer plus 2 older ones.

You could also combine the reward with use of a clicker.

Agree with everyones advice above, we also taught our almost 7 year old Westie two toilet keywords when she went to the toilet and now we ask her and she goes to the door (well done if you guessed those keywords).

When she was younger we kept a supply of puppy training pads at hand just in case, when she was first brought home however she had already been sort of trained to go do her business on newspaper by the breeders (she was only 7 weeks old?!).

A 'No' and a carrying to the outside should do well and a lovely praise afterwords is always nice for them to let them know they've done something good!

The old newspaper method did work, but it really involved a 2 stage training method, i.e., train the pup to use the papers indoors then train the pup to use the papers outdoors.

Best go for the final result in one stage. Also, some pups see newspapers being put down as a cue for a game of ripping them up.
