Hi guys,

I'm sorry if I'm posting this in the wrong place.

I'm going to publish a book with a photos of Richmond Park. It will be distributed as PDF or via iTunes Store. Maybe printed one day. I was wondering if anyone have an experience of getting the photos licensed by Royal Park?

Is it a requirement? I've contacted Royal Parks and one of their advisors told me I would need to pay £300+VAT to get my photos licensed. :help:

What's there to help about? Them's the terms and yes, you need a licence.

Well, i was wondering if anyone did it before. I don't see any reason why anyone should pay to license pictures taken in Richmond Park as it's a public place.

Its a public place, but you are going to publish the pictures and make money out of them. :nono:

What about other public places like the high street or the beach or just about anywhere else?

There are plenty of landscape photographs sold which were taken on footpaths through private land. No licence is needed for them.

Are there public footpaths through Richmond Park?

Not a "public place" but as stated above.

"Open to the public yes. But it's also privately owned land."

Very clear cut rules about it.

If you wish to take photos for personal use you may.

Steve.

This is a Royal Park and as such has it's own specific rules.

The other places you mention are NOT Royal Parks and as you rightly state no licence is required.

The public has access to Richmond Park under the stated rules for Royal Parks.
