public photography licence

No.

It is within anyones right to photograph in a public place within the Uk, apart from certain locations if used for commericail purposes, including Royal Parks and Tragalgar Square.

As far as I'm aware if you are on public land you can photograph whatever you like as long as it's legal to do so

Now that made me giggle ... and while you're there you can steal whatever you like too, as long as it's legal to do so :lol:

simple quick concise answer, would be good if there was some system to get a permit that we can show to the PC brigade that we are not taking pictures as some sort of reconnaissance mission or otherwise depending on the situation.

OP, you are free to take pictures or pretty much whatever you like from public land in most cases. THere are certain restrictions that no permit will get you round.
