I am unsure of all the details, but am told that my son can purchase Photoshop CS3 for a reduced price.

1; Is this CS3 student packege different from a normal CS3, or is it just the same but reduced..

2; Although he is not studing Photography, would he still be legible.

3; Where would he purchase from.

Any guidance or information would be gratful....

Thanks..

Any full-time student registered in an acredited education institution qualifies for Adobe student discount. An idividual student would qualify for one copy of each of Adobe applications ... so, in theory, your son could get CS3, Lightroom, and anything else he so wishes so long as he gets just one copy of each.

I, at 42, am a full time student doing postgraduate in business / finance and did qualify for Lightroom; and am thinking of getting CS3 or Elements 6.

As for the version of CS3, this is the exact same as the "normal" application .. not a "reduced" version.

Oh yes, proof that your son is a full-time student in an acredited institution is a must. For me, I had to scan and send via email a copy of my student card. If your son doesn't have a student ID, a letter from his school would be sufficient.

Thanks all for the replies, sound interesting,I will check out the links. He does have a student card and is attending Easton College in Norfolk.

I also had to fax over a copy of my student card as proof.

Its the same as far as I am aware

You can buy it from Adobe direct but proof of further education would be required

Heres the link to Adobe Education dont forget Elements 6 is available to students

Cannot make out the difference?.
Can it be purchased in a uk shop?.

Even part time students can get the discount, there are a lot of threads running around TP on that very subject.
A few of us signed up for the OU photography course a year back at £100
and got the CS3 extended at about £160 a huge saving on retail price.
We sent in copies of our course aceptance letter and further proof of address such as photocopies of driving licence
As far as I am aware my CS3 "extended"is the full version

Most physical shops don't stock education versions of software as it saves them a lot of aggro and hassle as people would need to provide proof of status to qualify.

Out of the two you've found online, I think the ones you've found are actually web development tools under the CS3 brand, just click each one to find what it actually includes.

It's the same software but cheaper. In the same way as Microsoft offer "student" versions of their popular programs.

Hi,

Sorry, but I wasn't aware of Adobe allowing this scheme to part-time students as well. Seeing that you say it is doable, then I am sure you are correct.

Unlike Microsoft's Office for students and teachers (which you can continue using for personal non-commercial purposes after school), after the students finishes/quits school, the license is no longer valid for Adobe's student products.

Does this mean that once I am no longer a student I have to throw-out my Lightroom copy? Or ...

Does this mean that once I am no longer a student I will not recieve any support & upgrades for my licensed copy?

As far as I know £205 is the price for education staff. £139 is the price for students. Same version. Last time I was in my local Apple Store they had the full version of CS3 (includes In Design, illustrator, Dreamweaver, Flash etc, as well as Photoshop) student edition for £245. Bargain!

My local Adobe rep said the license would be no longer valid, so I think that means you can throw it out if you're no longer a student (if you have a student's license, of course).

Oh yes, I got it then as well and had absolutly no problem. They just need the OU student ID number and off you go.

It wasn't a bad course either, shame they are not doing more advanced courses.

Look at buying one of the creative suites as they are superb value for money.

As for if the licence is valid when you no longer be a student, technically it wont be as its only valid when your a student, but i don't think adobe will pursue you to the ends of the earth, at least you bought it not like 99% of people who use it.

It will continue to update etc, Adobe wont actively cancel your serial number from their servers preventing you getting updates etc.

So enrol at your local college on any course, get your NUS card, and get a copy.
