I have ps elements 9 and just find it a complicated way to mess up photos i like dpp but i know it does limit me in what i can do and wonder what i should be doing after sharpening uping the colour saturation and for the most part changing the wb to cloudy

I don't know exactly what you are in to shooting, but I find PSE rather hardcore for the majority of photo editing, and just stick to Lightroom for pretty much everything.

Photoshop proper only gets use when I need to do serious local edits, such as more blur to backgrounds/changing/removing the background/using the liquify tool/ etc

I like to shoot wild life mainly birds but i also shot at our local folk/open mike nights which is where the need to remove background clutter comes from , i didnt get lightroom as it seemed alot dearer and i thought it was the more complicated option, my wife uses serif photoplus which she swears by
