Just updated to PS CC, what ive noticed instead of 16bit files, my files are now being saved at 8bit,, with a massive amount lot (file size ) when I crop image...

how do you change CC to 16 bit ?

16 bits files are quite bigger but contain far more colours
than a 8 bits of equal dimension in pixels. That's why one
would go for 16 in image editing but publish 8 /jpg for web
usage for example.

If you 1st open your images in ACR then look at the bottom centre where you will see "Adobe RGB ....." > click on that and select 8 or 16 from the drop-down menu 'Depth'.
If in Photoshop go to top NavBar and select 'Image' > 'Mode' then select 16-bit.

I had the same issue and didn't notice it had defaulted to 8 bit, why on earth would PP software NOT use 16 bit, instead of reducing the quality and number of colours in an image?

I processed lots of images without realising the change when I started using the new laptop, and was so disappointed at the colours and especially skin tones. I was blaming the laptop/colour profiles/screen/printer, but as soon as I changed back to 16 bit, quality returned.

Gramps has the solution, good luck.
