I either position the camera so the lens is looking slightly down or stick it under cover. Failing that, some sort of hood could be created to keep the lens clear.
Simple enough - I cut in half a 5 litre clear plastic container Juice - Milk- Bleach etc and mount the cam inside - the handle makes it easy to fit to a tree etc
Some form of hood, as suggested above, will work and the only minor drawback in heavy rain will be the audio on the trail camera will be drowned out by the noise of the rain.
I might have been fortunate but I have never had a problem with rain on the lens and our trail camera has been out in some atrocious weather in NW Scotland; the rain does effect the videos but not massively.
