Hi all.
My cousin has just got a copy of his wedding pictures on DVD, but they are in Slideshow format - using proshow? i think

now, im not being tight, but how could he/i "rip" or "open" it to show the images used in the right format?

He isnt looking to scam the guy or make money, he just wants some of the pictures for him and his new wife:love:

I believe its pretty easy to do. Actually i know its pretty easy to do if you know how but like Mattyh said best speak to the photographer.

The photographer did that for a reason.

Did your cousin pay to have the images in a format other than this ?

I think i could give the wrong ansaw here but TBH is it worth the time and effort to do, i have many rippers, but technology is moving fast i had to download a new programme the other day and got a virus as well, encryption is coming in various forms and the latest films have varying degree's of encryption, so you will be happerly ripping when you will get and error, and some i know have erased a DVD:eek::eek::eek:

Regards Mark

Not sure you're going to get a favourable response on here.
You're asking a forum full of photographers how to take some custom away from another photographer ;)

I use PSG for my Wedding & TotStuff DVDs too - and would sue them if I found out :bat::bat::bat:

It's actually pretty hard for the non-computer enthusiast I suspect as I've had people actually tell me they've been trying and asked how to do it !!!:cuckoo:

That said, PSG works by sampling the original and using it at a default of no more than 1000px wide & 72 dpi, as a 300 dpi print that would be reasonable quality just over 3 inches on the longest side - which is crap by any standards - and that's the point of the program

Tell him to pay the tog like he should be doing

Just to add...

I've just cut a PSG on DVD for a client (kid shoot), it has 61 images, 3 title pages, 1 4.38min soundtrack, a title image and fades etc. and is just 32.6mb in size

Do you really think an image pulled from that is going to be worth printing ???

Just curious diddydave - did you pay for the soundtrack your putting on your DVD or is it openlicense music? :p

Just curious as Ive seen people preach copyright when they then break it themselves :p

hannakournikova - Did your cousin only pay for a DVD? If so tell him to buy the actual copies. Personally I dont see the point of DVD's.. A print is far more meaningful than sitting there watching through images on a screen.. would be a nice addon but Id rather have prints.

You buy a license to play copyright music, same as buying a license of copyright images

The DVD is rarely the end product - it's an easier, better, cheaper form of 'Proofing' - i.e. 300 images of a Wedding on DVD costs about £1 all in, a Proof album that big would cost around £100 and show images 3" wide rather than as big as the client's tv screen which could easily be 40" these days

Does that make more sense?
