I've set myself the challenge of framing this bad boy, my 1:18 1997 Ferrari F310/B, signed by Eddie Irvine in 1998, one of my prized possessions.

I've never framed anything this depth or 3D before, watch this space.

Dale, I think the main problem you are going to face with that is - dust. That is a really lovely model, but they are absolute dust traps, and from my experience, the red shows up dust badly. I would be tempted to try putting it in a clear, sealed box, like the smaller1/43 scale models, with possibly a background diorama effect.
This is the type of case I was thinking of.

Hi guys, thanks for the input. (y)

I agree about the dust, this was sitting in our attic until last week when I dug a few of my models out. It was dusty and I thought I'd got it all until I hit it with flash. I also have a scale Irvine helmet that is going in the frame too. I'm a professional framer and have already built the shadow box for the car and helmet to sit in, which will be mounted, framed and sealed to prevent dust and bugs getting in. This is my first attempt at anything 3D though and it raises new challenges over my usual picture framing.

I'd love a dispay cabinet but room is an issue, I have various 1:43 F1 cars from the 90s and a title winning Damon Hill Williams as well as a Jaques Villeneuve BAR, the one with the dual livery in 1:18 that I may frame too, depending how this one goes.

:)

Sorry for the pants phone pics but project is progressing slowly as I'm doing it in my spare time, which can be very spare at times,

anyway,

1, shadow box built,

2, and mountboard fitted.

Voila., a lovely way to spend a wet Saturday in the workshop. Job done, a challenge but worth it, I'm chuffed to bits.

Sorry for the pic quality, it will be going in the studio on Monday.
