Hi Mark,

I can't comment on the Canon as a printer, as I'm an Epson user - although the 4900 would be an alternative (I'm on a 3800 which is A2 but not roll feed).

Hopefully this isn't your local printer you are having issues with ! - however, as you are local to me, and I know him have you considered speaking to Rick at Hiscock Gallery ?

I have used him in the past when I need > A2+ and also for my mounts and some of my frames. Really good guy who knows his stuff - he used wide format Canon printers and a range of fine art papers. As an alternative to buying and running depending on your volume of work.

I have a friend who runs a couple of these and he swears by them.
The only drawback is the smallish ink cartridges (130ml).
Colour calibration is a doddle apparently.

Thanks Mike.

It isn't Hiscock Gallery I'm having trouble with. I probably shouldn't name who it is as he's a regular on here. He's totally unreliable, won't answer his phone, hasn't opened the shop for over a month and I stupidly paid him in advance. Gotta love him!:)

I've decided to get my own as I will be printing and mounting. I would highly recommend http://www.solent-framework.co.uk/ for framing and mounting. You won't get better or cheaper. It's run by a really nice, honest guy called Ken. Tell him Mark Jones recommended him and he will look after you.

That's really good to know. I won't be doing large volume so the 130ml won't be a problem. I haven't found a bad word said about it yet.

No problem I completely understand ! - not a problem I have had - as I have my 3880 and I'm printing myself also.

I know the Solent Framework shop - and have used it. Will mention you if I head back in again...
