Profile help

I need help with profiles folks.
I've got an LG Flatron monitor thats just been calibrated using a spyder 3. Obviously when I boot up my machine the new profile kicks in and all is well.
Photo editing software I'm using is Photoshop CS5 and ACDSee pro 5. My printer is a Canon IP 4950.
What profiles should I be selecting in my photo imaging software? What profile for the printer. All these different profiles are a bit confusing. :bang:
Any advice and help would be greatly appreciated.

Have you got your icc profile for the paper/printer from paper manufacturers website.
In CS5 when you go through the printing options tick the box for no colour management (as you dont want to double profile) choose 'photoshop to manage colours' then your paper profile from the options below that.

You can probably get "canned" profiles from the paper manufacturer, for your printer. They tend to work reasonably well if you are using standard inks. I've found that ilford profiles are particularly good.
