Processing Snow Landscapes - Best Approach?

I have had another go after taking a break, come back with fresh eyes and I think I have got what I was wanting. Let me know what you think? I was after a high contrast b&w conversion with a sort of dark feel to it but was not too sure on how to get it.

Hard to get a dark feel with acres of white snow! You need to give your sensor a wee clean too!

I doubt that - the dirt is in focus - it's a dirty sensor - snow on the front would look different. Take a shot of a clear sky at f/16 and check it. Whatever it is though - I'd clone it out.

I am sure it is snow, I can't see it on any other of the photos that I took after this shot, is there anyway of testing it now as I cannot take a shot of the sky at the moment?

Which is the best way to clean sensor? I have a rocket blower which I have just purchased and how is the best way to use this with my sensor?

Of course I could be wrong - but worth checking - you need to take a pic of a white object - in focus at a small aperture. The only way I clean my sensors is to hold the camera - lens opening downwards - mirror locked up and use the rocket blower. If that doens't shift it then I get a prof clean.
