Ok folks..

I know it best to buy a Monitor Calibrator to get a better colour profile.. But which profiles that currently on the iMac are nearest to standard??

Also while on topic what calibrator best to get pls

The iMac profile that it comes with.

There a few others listed like Adobe rgb etc

The standard profile is fairly good on a retina machine, however the brightness level is fairly high. Mine is down to about 50% to get a good match. If you can a good calibrator will improve things, but if not stick to the default

My iMac's default colour profile is completely different to my calibrated profile. As Chappers said Default is also quite a bit brighter. I use a Spyder 4 Pro which seems to do a good job.

I forgot to mention I tend to use the Calibrated Colour Profile for editing for prints. However sometimes switch to Default when editing for the certain web work as most people viewing are viewing in their default.
