I need some help to make sure I dont ruin my first roll of film (though I will probably do that with my pictures :)!!)

I have the following filmsl;

Ilford FP4 Plus 125 - Black and White
Kodak ColorPlus 200 - Colour

Im aware that the kodak has relatively poor ratings but it was £1! and I needed some for the young uns Peppa Pig camera.

My question comes in developing these, its likely my impatient self will be at Boots/Jessops on Monday and I dont want to ruin them by being naive.

I hear a lot about C-41 and processing colour/B&W and it ruining a perfectly good set of images.

I have scoured the internet but cannot seem to find anything to help me understand what I should and should not do with the film I have.

Any comments would be greatly appreciated.

Hi,

Its not usually the processing thats the problem - most labs are monitored by systems like Fuji Oasis that monitor the chemicals etc and alert the staff to any problems - but the printing/scanning, it heavily depends on the skill of the person operating the machine as to how good the scans (and hence the prints as their printed from the scans) are, some are very good and give you a good set of images with no cast, over sharpening etc as they know what their doing, most I'm afraid just stick the machine on auto and let it decide. Its just luck of the draw I'm afraid.

Most places on the highstreet don't do on site black and white, they send it off and it takes a week or so.

I would send them to club35, I use them for all my colour negative films and their excellent. They also do B&W. Usually they get my films back within 3 days after me sending them. Their not much more than high street 1 hr processing either and much better quality.
