Having read with interest a recent thread on here started by a keen amateur photographer who is getting married soon and looking for a photographer to take photos at his wedding but hand over the photos for him to do the processing himself it gave me an idea for an experiment / challenge.
As we all know, everyone has different abilities when it comes to taking the photo and processing the photo. We also have different tastes when it comes to what we like to see in a photo. So what I was thinking was we get someone (it may end up being me but Im hoping for a far better volunteer) to take 3 RAW files and host them somewhere where people can download the RAW and do the processing on them as best they can. They would then post the fully processed version in a thread for a comparison and critique. 1 of the RAW files would be over exposed, 1 under exposed and 1 correctly exposed. Itll be interesting to see how much variation we get in the processing of the same image. The intention isnt to show how much some people can do it better than others because we already know thats the case. What Id like to see is people learning from what other people do so they can improve their own processing skillset.
At the moment this is just an expression of interest thread so let me know if you think its a good idea and if youd be interested in getting involved then we can work on the practicalities of it in the next few days.
